On a bright sunny Thursday, eleven former DCGS students came from all corners to represent the MCC to face the current 1XI in a timed conditions, longer format cricket match. This event was particularly special due to the 400th anniversary with a small crowd of MCC members coming down to watch the match unfold. The event helped connect the old Challoners with the new Challoners, offering advice while also holding an extremely tight game of cricket.

The MCC alumni team set a strong total of 230 with a confident declaration to try to skittle the young DCGS 1st XI team. After a fall of wickets, Ollie (Year 12) was able to steady the ship for the 1st XI team and was in good humour when told how bored the MCC were becoming! Bored of seeing his resistance at the crease, Ollie replied that "they were not as bored as he was". Young Aiden (Year 10) struck an outstanding century to stage a late 1st XI team surge. But as the final ball cracked the wicket keeper’s gloves, there was nothing between the two teams as a draw was settled and old friends reconnected and new ones were made.
