Applications for admission to the school at the start of Year 7 are handled on behalf of the Governing Body by Buckinghamshire Council as part of its co-ordinated admissions scheme. If you are interested in making an application, full details can be found here Secondary Transfer Testing and Grammar Schools
All enquiries about 11+ admissions should be directed to the Admissions Team at Buckinghamshire Council via Contact Us form on their website.
As an academy Dr Challoner’s Grammar School administers its own late transfer testing. Admission to Years 8, 9 and 10 (and to Year 7 from 01 January each academic year) will be handled in accordance with the school’s Late Transfer Procedure. Please refer Section 3 of the school’s Admission Policy Admission Policy for full details, including the late transfer over subscription criteria.
Details of the Late Transfer Procedure for admission in September 2022 can be found in the school's Admission Policy Admission Policy 2022.
Registration is now closed.
The academic eligibility of candidates seeking admission under the school’s Late Transfer Procedure will be assessed through curriculum based tests in English and Mathematics. Candidates will be required to achieve a minimum standard in each of the tests in order to qualify.
We do not provide sample papers and advise that coaching or revision is not required.
Testing does not mean that there are places available, but allows the school to establish a waiting list of qualified candidates should a place become available. The test is valid for 12 months. Your son will need to sit the test in the next testing round to retain his place on the waiting list.
Please note: Applicants from outside the catchment area will only be tested if there are 10 or less applicants from within the catchment area in the relevant year group.
Please be aware that each year we receive a substantial number of students registering to take the test for a very small number of possible places for those who qualify. Therefore many applicants will be disappointed. To appeal please contact the Clerk to the Independent Appeals Panel at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that the school will not deal with admissions queries on the telephone because our calls are not recorded. Please email email@example.com with any enquiries
