After a gruelling few days of exams, the Year 9 students who had chosen Austria out of the selection of six amazing trips on offer, met in the darkness at the bus stop at Challoners at 3 am! We then attempted the tedious journey to the Alpine regions of Austria. As soon as we got there we were plunged into the deep end, quite literally, as we travelled to a local water park for fun on the flumes. Although, the fun didn’t stop there, as during the week we did spectacular canyoning in the mountain water and exhilarating white water rafting in the rapids. On Wednesday we travelled into Salzburg to visit the salt mines, salz meaning salt in German, we fell 200 metres under the surface on cool slides and across the German border to learn about the ancient history of the mines starting all the way back in Celtic times. Thanks to the amazing selection of teachers this particular trip was extremely memorable and although the travel was a bit boring a massive success!
