Year 7 Activity Week

Whipsnade Zoo

The day started with us enthusiastically entering the coaches, feeling excited for the busy day ahead. We arrived at the zoo and split into groups of 15 and headed off to see as much of the zoo as we could in a day.

The grounds were split into Europe, Asia, and Africa, each boasting an impressive range of animals, from butterflies and peacocks to lynxes and wild boar. My personal favourite was the otters, though.

We were also allowed full control of where we wanted to go and that is how our group somehow circled through Africa at least four times!

To wrap up an incredible Activities Week, Year 7 enjoyed a thrilling day of non-stop action on the school site. Students had fun over the six activities: curling, skateboarding, climbing, archery, laser tag, and a creative construction challenge.

The energy remained high all day, despite the blazing sun. They separated into groups and rotated activities. Some hurled the curling stones across the sports hall in all directions, and others learned the techniques to skateboard and advanced with some tricks as well. Classes challenged and tested their precision towards the archery bullseye.

The laser tag arena turned into a high-intensity battle zone, while the construction challenge pushed everyone's engineering skills as they built huge creations. Every session was led by an incredible instructor who kept the atmosphere buzzing. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who organised this unforgettable experience for the Year 7s first year at DCGS!
