The Economics Department and its A level students are delighted to share the first volume of The Dr Challoner's Journal of Economics.

Back in February 2022, the idea for an Economics Journal was initially proposed by then-Year 12 student Archit Rakhade, and a team of budding writers set out to take up the challenge. It was a completely optional project, and it was great to see a handful of economists delve deeper into their economic interests, free of the constraints of an A level specification.

Articles were written over the course of the next few months, and in September I took over the editorial role to get this to publication. It’s been an interesting opportunity to learn how to collate and compile these pieces of work into a (hopefully) engaging and enjoyable journal for you to read. The journal contains a selection of fascinating topics, which range from the football gender pay gap to an overview of the booming cryptocurrency space.

I hope that this journal can serve as inspiration for future generations of students, who may even embark on some research of their own. Hopefully, this will be the first of many volumes of The Dr Challoner's Journal of Economics.
