On Tuesday 28th June, the annual Junior Concert took place to showcase all the musical talent in the school. The boys played a variety of different musical instruments in front of over 200 parents. Many Year 10 GCSE music students got the chance to perform their prepared group ensemble pieces. 30% of the music GCSE grade is based on these performances, and so it was a great opportunity for them to display what they have been working on. Other performances were from club ensembles, rock bands or keen musicians who wanted to showcase their work.
It was also great to see so many Year 7s participating in singing Rule the World by Take That, alongside the Staff Band. There was also an outstanding performance from Year 7, Cian Mellon, who played Meditation by Massenent on the violin, and received a deserved standing ovation from the crowd. The Junior Music Colours were also announced on the night to the many Year 10s who had made contributions to music at DCGS throughout their time here at Challoner’s.
The concert was a great opportunity for the boys to showcase all of their hard work. Well done to all the boys who performed and thank you to the Friends Society, and all the staff for making the event possible.
